For many years students at this school had to walk almost 1,000 feet per recess period just to access the entrance to their playground, wasting recess time and depriving children of the free time they need. Old Mountain was chosen to install a new grand staircase that allowed students and teachers direct access to the playground for the first time, giving as much as 20% of each recess time back to students to play and enjoy the beautiful outdoors!
